Roland Meyer is an image and media scholar and has been DIZH Bridge Professor of Digital Cultures and Arts at the University of Zurich and Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) since July 1, 2024. He studied art studies and media theory at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design, where he graduated in 2017 with the thesis “Operative Portraits. Eine Bildgeschichte der Identifizierbarkeit”, which was published as a book by Konstanz University Press in 2019. After holding positions at the Berlin University of the Arts, the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden and the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, among others, he most recently conducted research at the Collaborative Research Center 1567 “Virtuelle Lebenswelten” at the Ruhr University Bochum.
